Country History: Hungary was under the control of the Soviet Union. Many Hungarians began an uprising against Soviet Union policies in which the Soviet Union invaded Hungary. The U.S.S.R. wanted to stop the protesters in which many Hungarians died or fled to another area. In the late 2008, Hungary suffered from finanical crisis and needed money for emergency outside financing. Mr. Orban became president in 2010 and took control of the Fidez party in order to stablize Hungary. Tension rises when Hungary buget is deficit and must pay to open legal actions. Mr. Orban said“Interest rates are growing and growing. So it’s not an easy period for the country." Heading: Shaking Off the Horror Of the Past In India
MLA Format: Joseph, Manu. "Shaking Off the Horror Of the Past In India". 15 Feb. 2012. The New York Times.com. 4 March. 2012. <http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/16/world/asia/16iht-letter16.html>

Country History: India was once under the rules of the British empire in which Hindus and Muslims came together with the help of Gandhi to gain their independence. The country gained their independence on August 15, 1947 and the country current leader is Pratibha Patil. India established a republic with a parliamentary system as its political system.

Summer of Article: Ten years ago Narendra Modia, chief minister of Gujarat was abhorred by everyone because of the deaths of hundreds of people. Mr. Modia is now admired and is the leader of the Bharatiya janata party. He endeared himself to the business people and middle class by using patriotism. In February 27, 2012, 60 Hindus pilgrims were burned alive in Godhra. Many people believed that the Muslims planned the attack in which they were convicted and sentence to death or prison. A riot occurred in Gujarat that killed hundreds of Muslims. The media and reporters believed that Mr. Modia was complicit to the deaths of Muslim because he supported the Hindus. Mr. Pandya was murdered for defending Mr. Modia in which 12 Muslims were arrested for committed a homicide. The court alleged the 12 Muslims and the court try to accused Modia but there was no evidence. Pareveen Togadia, a Hindu, who did an interview in order to increase Mr. Modia state election. Heading: Nicaragua

MLA Format:
Schmidt, Blake. "Nicaragua". The New York Times.com. 7 Nov. 2011. The New York Times Company. 11 Jan.2012.<http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/international/countriesandterritories/nicaragua/index.html?scp=2&sq=a%20country%20that%20was%20colonized%20&st=cse>

Background of Imperialism in the Country: My article is about Nicaragua that is located in Central America. This country was imperialized in the 16th century by the Spain. Nicaragua received its independence in 1821.

Summary of Article: Nicaragua was imperialized by Spain and regain its independence in which they had to find a new government. Somoza family was the first to control economic, government and military of Nicaragua in the 1930-1979. They soon was overthrown by a uprising in which Nicaragua in the 1980 was the center of the cold war on the west. Mr. Ortega ran the for president and won which outrage Nicaragua. The people believed Ortega's party cheated and he wanted to limit human rights. he was soon kicked out but Nicaragua suffered from transition to find a government that led them to live in poverty, poor education and unemployment. The Imperializers affected them to not be able to sustain themselves because they can't find the right government to protect their rights.

Suggestions for improvement: The issue discuss in this article is a transition to find a government ever since they regain their independence. This is a social issue because Nicaragua suffer form poverty and they have poor education with high unemployment which affect the people. what can be done to solve this issue to find a candidate to run for president and that has the knowledge to run the country by protecting people right or the people can notified their complaints to their government so that they can make change. The group that is in a position to effect change are the people affected by the situation and the local government because they can both work together to address these issue in Nicaragua by making a petition or gathering money to fix their issues within their country.

Headline: Report Details Initial Chaos At Stricken Nuclear Plant
MLA format:
Wald, L. Matthew. "Report Details Initial Chaos At Stricken Nuclear Plant."
The New York Times.com.11 Nov. 2011. The New York Times Company. 11 Nov. 2011.
<http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/12/world/asia/report-details-initial-chaos-at-fukushima-daiichi-nuclear-plant-in-japan.html>
Summary:
This article takes place in Asia pacific, Japan, in which it talks about the Nuclear plant
industry at Fukushim that endure an earthquake that cause an explosion for this country. During
the earthquake, 40 workers ran to the Fukushim Daiichi Unit 1 Nuclear power plant in order to
stop the melting of nuclear by using a water pump. At 3:30 the worker were done but six minutes
later an explosion occurred in the building which spread radioactivity. America nuclear industry
wasinvolved in this situation by constructing a chronology that identify danger procedure and
venting issue. However, America does not lend a hand to Japan but assume that their venting
machine is the caused of radioactivity instead of phenomena. Fukushim delay venting until
government approve the venting usage which did help reduce radioactivity. Workers had no
home, slept near the power plant in which they inhale radiation, worked in the dark, had little
food and the country itself had a high radiation level.

Suggestion for improvement/solving:
What can be done to solve this issue is by providing a home for these workers so they won't
inhale radiation and to make a better procedure for workers to come in time if a nuclear is melting
without any workers getting hurt during this procedure. I also think that America Industry should
help Japan and Japan should plan what they can do during an earthquake by shutting down power
plants. I believe that the international community as well as the people affected by this situation
should be the ones who can create change by bringing this issue to the public eye so that people
can lend an hand and improve industrialization of nuclear power plant in Japan.

Current Event #1

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/30/world/middleeast/bahrain-court-hands-down-harsh-sentences-to-doctors-and-protesters.html
GOODMAN, J. DAVID. "Bahrain Court Hands Down Harsh Sentences to Doctors and Protesters - NYTimes.com." NY Times Advertisement. Web. 29 Sept. 2011.

Summary:
This article takes place in Bahrain which is located in the Middle East and occurred on Thursday of March. The people involved in this article are doctors, protesters and the Bahrain court. What is occurring in Bahrain is that a protester named Ali Yusuf Abdulwahab al-Taweel killed a police officer and is sentence to death. However; the Bahrain court also wants to arrest the doctors for healing the wounds of the protesters. The situation soon became a dilemma for the country because many people such as the human rights group believed that the Bahrain court is committing a felony towards human rights.

The significance of this event is that Bahrain court are pressing charges against doctors because they treated the wounds of the protester which led the people to criticize how the government, court and law are being cruel with their punishment against the obligation of a doctor. The country is locally being affected because there are no doctors available to treat the patients and many people are continuing to protest against the law. The people will react in a harsh or upset manner because they believe that the court are being injustice towards the protesters and the doctors.

The Enlightenment thinker I chosen is Beccaria and he would view this article as an injustice towards criminal and none criminal who don't have a say for their actions. Beccaria will not support this situation because the court of Bahrain are being cruel but he will support the human rights group for defending doctors and preventing the court from sentencing the protester to death. The main idea of Beccaria was that criminals should be treated fairly and must not be torture or sentence to death. His ideas influence the USA by giving everyone the right to a speedy trail (Amendment 6th) and establishing amendment 8 which prevent unusual punishments or excessive bail in which the Bahrain court are doing.
